HOMEMADE CHAI TEA BLEND / HEMMAGJORD CHAITEBLANDNING

This is my second recipe for www.teadventskalendern.se It's a homemade chai tea made with a lot of nice spices as well as black tea and rooibos.  
To get the most flavour out of the spices I first roast them in the oven for a few minutes (your kitchen will smell amazing, promise!) After the roasting I coarsely grind them in a pestle and mortar before mixing the spices with the tea. This is great as a christmas gift! I'm actually planning to give this to my mother-in-law for christmas. Swedish recipe down below.

Homemade chai tea blend

Ingredients

• 15 green cardmom pods + 10 for decoration
• 1 tsp pink peppercorn + 1 tsp for decoration
• 1 tsp black peppercorn
• 1 tsp whole cloves
• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 3 tbsp dried candied ginger
• 2 dl black neutral tea 
• 1 dl nutral rooibos


How to prepare the chai tea

Set oven to 175 degrees celsius. Cut 15 green cardamom pods into halves with a sharp knife. Put the cardamom pods, pink peppercorn, black peppercorn, cloves and cinnamon sticks into a ovenproof tin. Toast in the oven for approximately 5 minutes. Let cool. Put the roasted spices into a pestle and mortar and crush them. 
Chop the candied ginger into smaller pieces and mix it with the spices and the tea. Mix in the green cardamom pods and pink peppercorn that haven't been toasted. Store in an airtight jar. 
It's served best with some foamed milk and some honey.

Hemmagjord chaiteblandning

Ingredienser

• 15 gröna kardemummakapslar + 10 stycken för dekorering
• 1 tsk rosépepparkorn + 1 tsk för dekorering
• 1 tsk svartpepparkorn
• 1 tsk nejlikor
• 2 kanelstänger
• 3 msk torkad kanderad ingefära
• 2 dl svart neutralt te
• 1 dl neutralt rooibos 

Gör ditt eget chaite såhär

Sätt ugnen på 175 grader. Halvera de 15 kardemummakapslarna. Lägg kardemummakärnor, rosépepparkorn, svartpeppar, nejlikor och kanelstänger i en ugnsfast form och rosta i ugnen i ungefär 5 minuter. Låt svalna. Mortla de rostade kryddorna och försök bryta kanelstängerna så gott det går. Hacka den kanderade ingefäran i mindre bitar och blanda med de mortlade kryddorna, det svarta teet samt rooibosteet. Blanda i orostade kardemummakapslar och rosépepparkorn för dekorering. Häll upp blandningen i en tät burk. Blir väldigt gott att dricka med skummad mjölk och lite honung.
